IMPACT OF INDUSTRIAL ACTION ON FRENCH RAIL SERVICES IN june 2018

French rail strike June

The French rail strike that began in April and is still ongoing in June. (See calendar for June dates above).

TGV and Intercités services that are guaranteed to run during the strike period are already loaded and open for sale on reservation systems for travel until end of June

Around 250 trains per day are now guaranteed to operate on strike days compared to just 100 trains per day at the start of strike action.

Definitive information concerning additional rail services that will operate on strike days will be made available here:

- 2 days in advance (from 16h00) for domestic TGV and Intercités trains

- The eve of the strike (from 16h00) for other operators

If you have customers who are due to travel on one of the cancelled services you can either refund or exchange their ticket free of charge* or they can travel on a different train operating on the same route on the same day (Note: Seats cannot be guaranteed).

*These after-sales measures apply from 19h00 on the eve of a strike day until 8h00 on the morning after a strike day. Ticket exchanges are subject to availability and original tickets should be kept in case required for after-sales procedures. Normal after-sales conditions apply for exchanges and refunds of tickets for travel on days not affected by the strikes.

For refunds and exchanges of tickets booked via our website, www.voyages-sncf.eu:

- Fill in our online contact form.

- Don't forget to indicate what type of request you are contacting them about and always include the original booking reference (PNR).  Please keep hold of all original tickets in case required.

- Your request will be processed and your customer's original ticket will be refunded, regardless of fare (including non-flexible fares) and regardless of ticket type (print at home, paper ticket etc). In the case of a return journey, all unused tickets can be refunded if part of the journey cannot be completed.

In these exceptional circumstances, no after-sales procedures should be attempted online, but via the contact form instead.

If your customer still wishes to travel, their ticket will be valid on any train on the original route and date of travel but with no guarantee of a seat. Travel must be completed under the same conditions as originally booked (same route, same class, same comfort level).

We strongly advise however that passengers cancel or re-schedule their journey if at all possible.

For real time traffic updates, please check the SNCF traffic info page.

For refunds and exchanges of tickets booked via GDS:

- Tickets for travel on a strike day can be cancelled directly via the Sabre or Amadeus graphic solutions and via the Travelport cryptic solution. The reason for cancellation will be STRIKE. Please note that this process cannot be used for Eurostar tickets.

- If you are unsure of which process to use or you need to exchange or refund a Eurostar ticket please send an email to:  gds_en@customerservice.voyages-sncf.com
